A limited edition 18 year old variation on Douglas Laing's Rock Oyster Island blended malt, made exclusively with whiskies distilled on Arran, Jura, Islay and Orkney. We told ourselves that we wouldn't made a B-52s reference when writing this bottling note, and we're sticking to that promise.
This limited edition joins Douglas Laing's Scallywag range, The Chocolate Edition 2022 is comprised entirely of sherry cask-matured Speyside single malts, drawn from single casks. Each cask was selected especially for its chocolate-rich profile, ensuring huge helpings of cacao depth and dark, sweet spice. Definitely one to enjoy with a nice chunk of dark chocolate!
The Gauldrons Campbeltown Malt Scotch Whisky tells the story of the eponymous dark, stormy coves on Campbeltown’s west shores, and literally means “Bay of Storms”. As you step onto The Gauldrons’ fine, clean sand, you also step back in time. Over yonder is where a spider building his web with great patience but great difficulty inspired King Robert the Bruce to try, try and try again, having been defeated by his enemies. All around, you can sense the ghosts of the long lost distilleries that once proudly proclaimed Campbeltown Scotland’s Whisky capital. The Gauldrons is a marriage of the finest Campbeltown Malts, bottled in very small batches at 46.2% ABV, and proudly without colouring or chill-filtration.
It's time to meet the beast – the Timorous Beastie, that is! Douglas Laing has created a limited edition bottling of it's Highland blended malt expression, featuring whiskies matured for at least 13 years before bottling. The whiskies were aged exclusively in American bourbon barrels, and it's been bottled up at 52.5% ABV. 3,000 bottles of this little beastie were produced. it takes its name from a Robbie Burns poem, but despite sounding small, it's by no means a shy dram!
